Simple Tips for Managing Stress

Take one thing at a time. This will make it easier to focus and to do a high quality job the first time. Single-task during most of your day, but set off an hour in the afternoon, for instance, to do all of the multi-tasking stuff

Write everything down. Write down your ideas, tasks, and stuff you need to remember. There is no need to worry about forgetting and you will free up your mind for focusing on other things.

Keep your daily to-do list very short. Use a 1-3 point important task list. Keep it short and simple.

Spend 80% of your time focusing on a solution. Spend 20% of your time dwelling on the problem. Your life will feel much more hopeful and positive

Pack your bag before you go to sleep. Take 5 minutes before you go to bed to do this and you’ll also be less likely to forget something important like your schoolbook, wallet or phone.

Balance fully focused work with complete rest. Work for 45 minutes, then take 15 minute break away from computer or work area. Eat a snack, go for a walk, or enjoy conversation with someone. This will help you relax and avoid stress build up during the day.

Set clear boundaries for your day. Be intentional with a balance between work and rest. I need to have a good balance between work and rest. Set limits on when you will start and end work- and stick to it.

Disconnect over the weekend. Set boundaries around how many times to check work email and phone over the weekend. Stick to the boundaries.

Delegate. You don’t have to do everything yourself. You don’t have to control or micromanage. If possible delegate and let someone else get that project done.

Be 10 minutes early. This can transform your life from stressful to relaxing in 10 minutes.

Be here.  Choose to spend more time of your day in the present moment. Sit or stand still and take in everything that is happening around you at this moment. See it. Hear it. Smell it. Feel it.
